JSP Big Blue Ear Defender
The JSP Big Blue Ear Defender is made from tough materials with soft foam pad cushion inserts for comfort during particularly long shifts. The ear defenders have an SNR of 27, which suits them for medium duty industrial and outdoor applications.
What Can the Ear Defenders Do for Me?
The ear defenders have several useful features. These include:
- Tough: Durable acylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) cups in case of an impact
- Comfortable: PVC covered foam head band with open cell soft foam pad cushion inserts for all day comfort and particularly long shifts
- Effective: Large cups offer impressive performance at high noise levels
- Adjustable: Ear defenders are adjustable for an exact fit
Who Can Use the Big Blue Ear Defender?
The ear defender's SNR rating of 27 demonstrates that it is suitable for handling medium level noise risks. The ear defenders have been designed with outdoor applications in mind. The following is a list of hazards and settings for which the ear defenders are suitable protection:
- Moderate industrial noise
- Workshops
- Printing works
- Landscaping
Please note that one size of the ear defenders should fit most users.
What Is SNR?
SNR stands for simplified noise reduction, and can be used to compare the different level of noise attenuation offered by hearing protectors. To establish the acoustic pressure on your ears from a hazard subtract the SNR value from the average noise level measured. To avoid hearing damage this number must not go above 87dB.
What Certifications Have the Ear Defenders Received?
The ear defenders have undergone a variety of tests so you can be sure of your safety at work. They have achieved the following certifications:
- EN 352
- SNR: 27
- Low Frequency Noise: 17
- Medium Frequency Noise: 24
- High Frequency Noise: 30
What Do These Certifications Mean?
- EN 352: This standard specifies the requirements for ear defenders offering protection from excessive noises
The materials, inner leakage, minimum attenuation and several other factors of the ear defenders have been assessed and found to conform with the requirements for hearing protection. Their SNR rating of 27 illustrates that they are suitable for use in moderate risk environments.
How Do I Fit the Ear Defenders?
To fit the ear defenders please pull the ear cups to the maximum extent of the headband, then fit the ear cups over the ears against the side with the marking "TOP" above the ear. Finally, slide the headband down until it touches the top of the head.
