Blade Cut Protection

Portwest AC01 Gloves are EN1082-1 European Standard certified for use with hand knives. They are made with high-quality, stainless steel chainmail, making them incredibly cut and blade resistant.

What Is Chainmail and How Does It Protect Your Hand?

Chainmail is a series of metal rings locked together to form a protective sheet. As metal does not bend or tear like fabric does, chainmail protects against punctures, cuts and incisions by blocking the tip of a sharp implement before it can get close enough to pierce the skin. This makes chainmail the optimum hand-wear in abattoirs, food preparation environments and blade handling settings.

What Are The Benefits of Stainless Steel?

Stainless steel is a non-porous material that will not harbour bacteria and is nice and simple to clean. Its hygienic properties make it the perfect material for use in sanitary safety glove manufacturing.

Stainless steel is also highly cut-resistant, making it ideal for use in food preparation environments as the metal is arranged into tiny rings that interlock to form a mesh-style coat. In the event that a blade comes into contact with the glove, the metal will jam the tip of the blade before it enters the skin, providing a level of protection that a fabric glove simply cannot offer.

Can Stainless Steel Be Washed?

Stainless steel is also super simple to wash. Simply scrub the glove with hot, soapy water.

What Are Portwest AC01 Gloves Made From?

Portwest AC01 Chainmail Gloves are made from stainless steel that is spun into rings and laced together to create a protective layer of chainmail.
