Why Wear a Cut Resistant Apron?
A Cut Resistant Apron is the perfect accompaniment to any cut-resistant workplace outfit. Accidents and slips involving knives, blades and other sharp objects can easily result in material coming into contact with your chest, side or stomach. An apron protects your vital organs and prevents accidents causing serious injury.
Protection Ratings
A CR01 Apron is highly cut-resistant and has been tested accordingly. Please view the information and table below to see just what's involved.
EN 388
EN 388 is a European regulation governing the sale of garments used for safety and protection. It determines the fabrics performance when used in and around mechanical machinery by measuring its abrasion, cut, tear and puncture resistance.
The EN 388 cut resistance test uses a single sharp implement to repeatedly pressure a piece of the garments fabric in order to determine the amount of force required to cause visible and functional damage.
Standard | Resistance Rating |
Abrasion Resistance | Level 1 |
Cut Resistance | Level 5 |
Tear Resistance | Level 4 |
Puncture Resistance | Level 2 |
ISO Cut Resistance | Level D |
High Level of Cut Resistance
A Portwest CR01 Apron uses a tightly woven blend of fabric and fibres to jam the tip of a blade or implement before it can reach the skin below. This Level D resistance means that a blade or other sharp tool would have to exert over a massive 22 newtons of downward force to pierce the fabric shell of this apron.
