JSP Cobra Welding Visor with Auto Darkening Shade 9-13

The JSP Cobra Welding Visor with Auto Darkening Shade 9-13 has been constructed using high-spec engineering grade Nylon 66 and is powered by solar cell, removing the need for batteries. The lens is auto-darkening, but can also be adjusted manually to the shade required.

What Can the Cobra Welding Visor Do the Help Me?

The visor has many useful features, including the following:

  • Exacting Standards: Engineering grade nylon construction for ultimate reliability
  • Solar Cell Power: Powered via solar cell which conveniently saves the need for batteries
  • Auto Darkening: The lens adjusts light transmittance depending on light generated by welding, changing from light to dark in 0.05 milliseconds
  • Face Shield: Polycarbonate anti-splatter lens to resist liquid droplets and protects electronic components, shield is of highest optical quality for continuous wear
  • Acetate Grinding: Welding shade can be raised to reveal an acetate grinding face-shield

Who Can Use the Welding Visor?

The visor is ideal for welding due to the exceptional protection it offers from associated hazards, such as molten metal droplets and bright arc light. The lens will darken in response to arc light and protect your eyes from damage.  Following is a short list of professions and settings for which the visor is suitable:

  • Sheet metal workers
  • Utilities
  • Maintenance
  • Ship building

Please note that this face shield is not designed for gas welding or laser cutting.

What Certifications Has the Welding Visor Received?

The visor has undergone a variety of tests so you can be sure of your safety at work. It has achieved the following certifications:

  • EN 175
  • EN 379
  • ANSI Z87.1
  • EN 166:
    • 1, 3, F

What Do These Certifications Mean?

  • EN 166: This standard specifies the requirements for protective eyewear
  • EN 175: This standard specifies the requirements for eye and face protection for welding and related processes
  • EN 379: This standard stands for lenses with automatic welding filters that switch their luminous transmittance to a lower predetermined value when an arc is ignited
  • ANSI Z87. 1: This is the American standard for personal occupational  and educational personal eye and face protection devices

The face shield is suitable for welding and related processes and the lens will darken when an arc light is ignited. The face shield qualifies as suitable eye protection against high speed low energy impacts of particles at 120m/s and liquid droplets. The face shield is of the highest optical quality, and is thus suitable for continuous wear.

How Does the Auto-Darkening Lens Work?

The auto darkening lens will alter the shade between 9 and 13 to achieve the right level of protection depending on the activity of the user and the intensity of the arc light. The reaction time of the lens is only 0.05 milliseconds, and the shade can also be adjusted manually by use of the variable shade control on the side of the face shield.

How Do I Use the Visor?

To use the visor, please first adjust the variable shade control on the outside of the face shield to the application level required. Next, adjust the sensitivity and delay controls on the lens on the inside of the face shield, and ensure face shield is in place before entering the hazard area. For your convenience the face shield will turn off automatically after 20 minutes of inactivity.
