What Do These Standards Mean?

The Portwest PW50 is certified under a number of EN 397 standards. This means the helmet is able to protect the wearer from injury caused by falling objects, and that it will not move from side to side during wear. Additionally, it also meets requirements for protection against impacts in very low temperatures, from molten metal pieces hitting the helmet, and from brief, unintentional contact with live wires with up to 440Va.c.

Its CE CAT III certification means it is suitable for wear in higher risk work environments.

Suitable for Freezing Conditions

The Portwest PW50 can be used in freezing conditions both indoors or outdoors, as it remains fully effective in temperatures as low as -30°C / -20°C. Additionally it can be paired with certain Portwest earmuffs (PW42 and PS42), so you won't have to sacrifice warmth for protection.

Protection from Overheating

The hard hat can be worn as easily in warm conditions as it can cold ones. It features a sweat band that helps to prevent overheating and that stops sweat before it can get into your eyes and impair vision. It is therefore a great piece of PPE for all kinds of adverse environments.
