How Does Chainsaw Protective Clothing Work?

If a chainsaw cuts through the protective layer on chainsaw protected clothing, then it rips out bundles of long and tough fibres which wrap themselves around the saw, clogging it and bringing it to a standstill. This clever design could be potentially life or limb saving in the event of an accident as the fast-moving blades will cut through any materials so reinforced or shielded clothing won't stand a chance.

Does the Jacket Provide Total Coverage?

The Portwest CH15 Chainsaw Jacket is certified to EN 11393 Type B which means it offers more protection than jackets certified to Type A. The additional full front protection provided by Type B certified jackets could be lifesaving as it protects many of your vital organs. The total coverage of this jacket extends beyond your arms and chest to include your abdomen for whole torso protection.

How Protective are the Trousers?

The Portwest CH14 Chainsaw Trousers are certified to EN 11393 Class 1 Type C and provide a significant amount of protection compared to Type A and Type B trousers. The additional protection covers around the whole 360° of your leg so that the backs of your thighs and calves receive the same exceptional protection that the front of your legs do. This extra security could be the difference between a life changing injury or walking home at the end of your shift.

Reflective Orange Visibility

Staying visible is important when you work around heavy machinery, chainsaws and trees being felled. For that reason, both the trousers and the jacket feature reflective panelling and heat applied segmented reflective tape to keep you clearly visible. They are also designed with a bright orange colour that helps you stand out to avoid the risk of accidental injury.
