Portwest FR602 Black Chemical Protection and Flame retardant Jacket

The Portwest FR602 Black Chemical Protection and Flame Retardant Jacket has been designed, manufactured, tested and certified to provide the protection required for safe working in various hazardous work environments. As well as providing protection against heat, flames, arc flash, and electrostatic discharge, the Portwest FR602 is also suitable for wear in environments where there may be a risk of chemical splashes.

Chemical Splash and Thermal Hazard Protection

As well as offering a smart contemporary style, the main benefits to the Portwest FR602 Jacket is in the protection it provides in hazardous work environments. The jacket offers inherent protection against arc flashes, radiant, convective and contact heat, as well as shielding the wearer from welding related hazards such as splashes of metal. The jacket is also tested and certified to provide protection against splashes of chemical products.

Modaflame Fabric

The jacket is constructed from Portwest's inherently flame resistant Modaflame 290gm fabric. Portwest's industry leading flame resistant range provides multi standard protection for hazardous environments.

Made with Carbon Fibres

Interwoven with 1% carbon fibres, the Portwest FR602 Jacket has excellent tear and tensile strength, and anti-static properties. Carbon fibres generally have excellent tensile properties, low densities, high thermal and chemical stabilities, good thermal and electrical conductivities, and excellent creep resistance.

How Comfortable is the Portwest FR602 Fire Retardant Jacket?

Featuring innovative stretch panelling in key movement areas, you won't find the Portwest FR602 Jacket restrictive and stiff. This stretchy work jacket also features a back vent for breathability, and pre-bent sleeves for increased freedom of movement.

  • EN 11612: This standard determines whether a garment offers protection against heat and flames, and whether this protection extends to convective, radiant or contact heat
  • EN 11611: This standard shows whether an item of clothing is suitable for welding or similar tasks and will protect the wearer from heat and metal splashes
  • EN 1149-5: This standard demonstrates whether a garment protects against electrostatic discharge in environments such as petrochemical refineries where there is a risk of explosion
  • IEC 61482-2: This is the overall standard covering protective clothing against thermal arc hazards and electric arc
  • ASTM F1959: This standard determines the arc rating of a garment, which is the amount of energy needed to pass through the fabric to cause a second or third degree burn
  • EN 13034: This standard specifies the requirements for protective clothing against splashes of chemical products

The Portwest FR602 jacket has an ARC rating of 2, and will attenuate 75.8% of the heat resulting from an electric arc.
